Why would a family who owns four cats start a dog bakery? It all began with a stray pup. Melissa and Michael had been caring for the pup's mother for years, and in the summer of 2005 saw a glimpse of her pup for the first time. They fell in love with him, but knew that they would have a difficult time capturing a wild dog. One day the pup needed some help getting a feeding container off his head and Michael was able to capture and rescue him. They started to call him "Inu", which is Japanese for dog. However, after trying to get him and the cats adjusted, they decided to find him a better home. They were blessed to able to place him in a loving home and continue to be a part of his life. In November 2005, another pup entered their lives. Hime, which is Japanese for Princess joined the family. She works hard as the bakery's quality assurance department and takes pride in her job.
With Melissa's love for baking and a desire to own her own business Happy Inu Bakery was created with the belief that dogs are loving, loyal companions who deserve healthier and chemical-free treats. Happy Inu Bakery's motto is "if you won't eat it, then why would you give it to your best friend?" By baking and sharing these treats, Happy Inu Bakery hopes to make our canine companions a little happier.
